The Blessed Summit 2009 on
DISTINGUISHED CHARACTERISTICS
Hijaz Community invites you to our forthcoming event between 3rd-5th July 2009 at Hijaz College. This year The Blessed Summit will include a series of talks, seminars and workshops on Distinguished Characteristics.
This is an opportunity for you as an individual to develop your thinking about the society in which you live from a fresh perspective. You can begin to re-evaluate what goes on around you, social issues, can be challenged and dealt with from a fresh perspective. The Summit enables the individual the opportunity to discuss matters of concern in an open and direct manner.
The Summit is held in the grounds of Hijaz College which is surrounded by 64 acres of beautiful idyllic English countryside, giving you the ideal surroundings for self reflection in a peaceful and serene environment. The relaxed informal atmosphere will also allow you to take time out from the frustrations of modern life, spend time in good company, hear uplifting Nasheeds (Islamic poetry), speeches from various members of Hijaz Community, and group Dhikr (remembrance of the Creator).
Distinguished Characteristics..
Take a step outside of your box and look at your day to day conduct and the way you interact with the world around you.
Do you like what you are faced with at your own doorstep?
Do you like the person you see in the mirror or is there room for improvement?
Do you know what problems your neighbours face?
How do you think we can instil a sense of common decency within people?
Increasingly, in the modern world, we are faced with gradual social breakdown, e.g. rebellion, violence, crime and social disorder.
How can an individual make any impact on these social ills?
With the numerous problems faced by our growing modern society, it is common for an individual to feel unable to help make any meaningful improvements to their community. However, society is made up of individuals. By eliminating your own personal vices and instilling ethical, civilised and respectable characteristics, you yourself will be able to make an improved, civil contribution to the society in which you live. Faith based communities can often centre themselves upon practices to do with worship without looking at ways in which the whole of society can be enriched. However, at Hijaz Community, a flourishing society is envisioned to be made up of individuals sharing key characteristics, such as humanity, sincerity and compassion.
The event is FREE of charge and visitors of all backgrounds are welcome to attend.
