The term ‘Hijaz’ is the name of the province covering the holiest land in Islam. It is a geographical region covering most of western Arabia, centring on the two most sacred Islamic cities: Makkah and Madinah. The noble city of Makkah is of great significance to Muslims because it is the location of the Holy Ka’bah (the direction in which every single Muslim prays towards). The noble city of Madinah is the resting place or Mausoleum and sacred Mosque of the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
From its inception by the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in early 7th Century, Hijaz grew in significance and became a prominent presence in the globe. The Hijaz region became a source and centre of great advancement across the world in numerous ways, including: education; trade and commerce; cutting edge innovations in medicine, science and technology; pioneering legal and judicial systems; and social and spiritual rejuvenation. Hijaz remained an independent province under the Ottoman Empire until the early 20th century, and is situated in what is now known as Saudi Arabia.
The reason the name Hijaz was chosen for this location in Warwickshire, is because the founder held a firm vision and aspiration to establish such a sacred, intellectually and spiritually revitalizing place for Britons and Europeans in the West. Hijaz in the UK and its projects and vision are all founded on the original principles and teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. The people of Hijaz aspire to facilitate others to achieve the enlightened, edified and exemplary characteristics and fulfilment established by the first generation of Muslims.
Muslims visit the Hijaz of Makkah and Madinah in order to develop their relationship with God and for inner spiritual progression. Hijaz aspires to be a reflection of these two blessed places and aims to provide a place of sanctuary for reflection, personal progress and an opportunity to develop one’s spirituality and connection to God.
Hijaz Community gives individuals the opportunity to step outside their box and embark on an objective, introspective questioning process in order to build a better understanding of themselves and the world around them. Having undergone this profound realisation process, individuals are equipped to make positive changes in themselves and become protagonists of change in the community.
Hijaz Community promotes instilling a sense of spiritual awareness in the lives of its members as part of its vision to return spirituality to the heart of society. This spiritual awareness comes about as a result of a clear, practical and relevant understanding of spirituality and successful self-realisation. Hijaz Community was set up with the view to implement a dynamic programme of societal change. Hijaz Community believes that the establishment of a successful society is dependent upon the positive development of its members.
