Information, Perception, AI and Islam
Every second of every day, an invisible force is at work. It is shaping what you see, what you think you know, and even how you feel about yourself and the world around you. It is not a scholar, a teacher, or a trusted friend. It is an algorithm, engineered not to enlighten you but to engage you; not to educate you but to exploit you for a particular purpose.
We live in an age of unprecedented information abundance and yet, paradoxically, an age of deepening confusion. Social media feeds overflow with content. Artificial Intelligence generates answers in milliseconds. News cycles spin faster than our ability to verify what is real. Deepfakes blur the line between truth and fabrication. Propaganda, once the preserve of nation states, is now manufactured and distributed at the touch of a button. In this environment, what does it even mean to know something?
In Islamic scholarship, knowledge is not solely data; it is a sacred trust. Islamic teaching has developed rigorous systems of verification, chains of transmission, and methodologies of research precisely because it has always been known that not all information is equal, and that misinformation comes at a great moral cost. These disciplines need to be applied even more today than ever before.
Hijaz Community recognises the profound challenge that the age of AI poses to the Muslim mind. The very faculties of perception, reasoning and discernment, which Islam calls upon every believer to exercise, are now under systematic assault.
Algorithms are designed to bypass critical thinking and speak directly to emotion. The brain, which Islam positions as the instrument by which we process, evaluate and act upon knowledge, is being drowned in noise and distracted by AI slop.
The distinction between Information and Knowledge, a cornerstone of Islamic scholarship, is being eroded.
This year’s Blessed Summit invites you to pause, reflect, and reclaim your cognitive autonomy.
Hijaz Community invites young people, adults and families to the Blessed Summit 2026, a weekend of reflection, scholarship and spiritual renewal, to explore how 2 billion Muslims can engage thoughtfully with the age of Artificial Intelligence, resist the forces of distraction and manipulation, and rediscover the timeless Islamic framework for seeking and living by genuine knowledge.
It is time to take back control of your mind. It is time to Reset the Algorithm.
